a free resource
for yoga facilitators and practitioners
A healing, fundraising, and educational initiative to benefit all sentient beings
Animalia Asana® is a free resource for international facilitators and practitioners of yoga that is dedicated to exploring and raising the profile of the multifaceted animal element in yoga.
Both online and in-person, the initiative explores the animal-named postures/mudras, the animal-based mythology/philosophy, and animal-oriented chanting and meditation. Through this, it aims to inspire humanity’s connection with and thus compassion for non-human and human animals.
Animalia Asana® is an international healing, fundraising and educational initiative. It is run completely voluntarily; in instances of any funds generated, all funds go to global animal charities FIAPO and IAR.
“The term ‘yoga’ originally means ‘connection’. Connecting to our inner selves includes connecting to the variety of sentient beings around us, not least the non-human animals. Animalia Asana is bringing this essential element of yoga practice to the fore, and I’m sure it will have important benefits for all who participate in it.”

“For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours, they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not bretheren; they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the Earth.”
