Unlike the abundance of animal-named postures and hasta mudras (hand gestures), there are few animal-named pranayamas (breath control practices). AA currently knows of four:
- The humming bee breath – bhramari pranayama
- The pigeon breath – kapota pranayama from Dru Yoga
- The crow’s beak breath – kaki mudra pranayama (technically classified as a mudra but is a practice focusing on the breath)
- The serpent breath – bhujangini mudra pranayama (technically classified as a mudra but is a practice focusing on the breath)
